Coffee Chronicles: Flores Bajawa (by Anomali Coffee)

Image
Flores is a part of Eastern Indonesia and one of the areas in Flores which is famous for producing a distinct kind of coffee is Bajawa. Have you ever wondered what Bajawa means? This word is actually derived from two different words. Bha for plate and Java which means peace.      The coffee plantations in Bajawa are situated 1300 meters above sea level and the coffee here is grown organically. That probably is the reason behind the fragrant aroma and the extra kick it gives! Generally speaking though, the higher the coffee plantation, the better.      And so, months ago Lawrence went to Indonesia and got me bags and bags of coffee that made me tear up with incomprehensible joy! Like you, I'm also a coffee addict. I can't say lover because it's more of an addiction! One of the many was this, Flores Bajawa and I only found the strength to rip the package open because it pains me to do so. The packaging is just too pretty! ...

1000 kilometers After and Cebu Marathon 2017

Image
Greetings from this side of the super toned gastrocnemius! Guess what everyone? I have reached 1,000 kilometers on Nike! I've never been so happy because it almost felt like forever. Before I knew it, I was at 900+ kilometers last week.      On other news, Cebu Marathon's early bird registration has been extended until November 15. This'll be my second time to join and I'm so dang psyched for it! To the people who feel like giving up on running just because you are not seeing the results yet...I say, go and run. Because good and beautiful things take time. If you've been running for miles and miles and are up for the challenge (of beating your time, that is) I strongly and wholeheartedly encourage you to join.      I started running in 2011 and I can't even remember the brand of the first pair of shoes I wore! I thought Sketchers was best thing ever. I had no gear, no belt bags whatsoever. I simply ran and joined my first ...

Say Boo! - QQ English Cebu Celebrates Halloween

Image
Ghouls and ghosts, spirits and witches, white ladies and doppelgangers. Happy Halloween everyone!      Every year QQ English celebrates Halloween by hosting a contest with participating teachers and students showcasing their scariest costume evaaa! This year's event was so much better than the last because even the staff are getting into the spirit ! (JOKE!) They fabulously dressed up as harlequin. They were more of cute than scary! Some Japanese do not celebrate Halloween and this is quite a fun experience for them. Not the usual classroom scenario...imagine yourselves having class with the nun from conjuring.  One teacher dressed up as a doll and nailed it. More of a fashionable doll because of the shoes! Would you be scared or distracted?      Each year it just keeps getting better. No  tricks here, just pure treats!       How was your Halloween experience? xx, Michelle ...

Cagayan de Oro Weekend

Image
Whoa! Attalast!!! A breath of much needed fresh air to break the dreadful routine. This weekend was very much awaited as we planned to visit Cagayan de Oro not too long ago. Say, just three weeks earlier? lol This was my second time to visit but too bad I was just going to stay here for one day. Yes, ONE day. I had my return ticket and I so badly wanted to reschedule my flight for another week.  (sobs) Main agenda: Lawrence Niece's Christening. There she is!:)      After the 3:00 bell I immediately shut my PC down and rushed out so I could get home before 4:00. I fed my dogs, changed, packed and headed out to Robinsons mall hoping that there would be a shuttle to Robinsons Galleria. And there was indeed one...free of charge! So I hopped on and waited, the traffic was starting to become like a monsoon and I arrived just in the nick of time. Lawrence and I had coffee at Bo's while waiting then we rode a taxi going to Pier 3 (Cebu to CDO)...

I Gained Weight. Now What?

Image
Someone told me the other day that I have gotten a tad fat. Oh! Initially I thought, "It must be all the sodium from the food trip I had during the weekend." Another possible reason behind this must be my working out lesser than usual. Either way, I really could not care less.      Gaining weight is a normal part of life and I know some women fuss about how heavy they are even though they are just a pound heavier than they were ( what , yesterday ?) I tell you, save yourself the fuss. I am not the kind of person who weighs herself every single day. I am way over that phase and the last time I stepped on a scale was more than a year ago.      It's unfair to blame fat. I'd say there are many factors on why one gains weight. It could be stress, water weight, muscle growth and the like. Another point why I am not so conscious of this is because I am taking protein...and with protein comes more muscle...more muscle equals lesser to...

How I Feel On A Typical Weekday

Image
Monday brings about an inevitable drag. My caffeine dosage comes to a peak at this time of the week and I have to hopelessly crawl out of bed. My eyes struggle to open and the cold air makes it more difficult to do so.      After winning over the first day of the week. I get by the midweek like a breeze. Now I can tell that's becoming routine again. Time passes by quickly and before I know it, it's Friday once again.       Running breaks the chain and gives me a temporary escape from all these. I only hear myself...my breath, my thoughts and I teleport into a whole new dimension.      Coffee is my ultimate liberator and makes up 60% of my energy supply. Without it I am dead.  (∪。∪)。。。zzZ       Even if this is the case, I can honestly say that my weekdays are productive!  How do you feel on a weekday? Tell me your thoughts.  ♫•*¨*•.¸¸♪ Michelle

Phuket: Forever in My Heart

Image
A year has passed since I visited Phuket and until now I can still vividly remember everything. Thailand had been in my bucket list before we went there and it holds such a special place in my heart. The people, the food, the place is sublime. We weren't there for the bars...although it is much known for its exhilarating night life. We traveled to really be one with everything and just simply to live in the moment. That was a first and I cannot wait for next time.  Thank you Thailand! Michelle
